Issue: Air Force (AF) Lodging was faced with a mandated shift to sustaining operations and recapitalizing facilities with self-generated funds only. AF Lodging’s traditional business model combined with aging facilities with deferred maintenance would not allow them to be self-sustaining on a long-term basis.

Process/Outcome: CHMGS professionals were engaged to assist AFSVC in outlining the business need, program vision, expected outcomes, and organizational roles and responsibilities of the Air Force Lodging of the Future program. The new Concept of Operations (CONOPS) forms the foundation for a new, more commercially aligned AF Lodging operation. Using best practices from the private sector whenever and wherever possible, the new AF Lodging model ensures that mission priorities are optimally balanced with government and taxpayer cost efficiency.
